Here you can read the original version of the interview we did with TCoS Community Manager Banshee. Enjoy!
Hello. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to interview you.
You are welcome. :)
Would you mind telling us more about the person behind the nickname Banshee?
Oh, what you would like to know? ^^
The person behind Banshee is Aurelija Drevel. I am Lithuanian, living in the Netherlands for a few years already with my beloved husband, whom I have met through online gaming. Besides playing games and participating in various online communities, I also obtained my Master Degree in Culture studies; my subject of the research back in the university was online communication.
Community-Manager?! How did that happen?
I applied for the job and have been invited for the interview. :) Not much to tell here really, just a bit of luck, a bit of constructive suggestions and a bit of work experience. :)
What is your personal motivation for community work?
I guess the most honest answer would be that I simply like to read forums. I enjoy well written posts, constructive discussions and even occasional arguments' competition, guild politics and similar things. Community management job of course is much more than that, but I think fun factor is very important. Besides that, I think we have quite mature community on TCOS forums and when you stay in that community for longer time, you start to care about it and Community manager job is bringing that care one step further.
What was you first day/week working as CM like?
Hehe it was quite hectic actually, a lot of things to find out, a lot of people to meet. :)
Are there already any unwelcome duties?
Not really yet, except maybe the situations, when you cannot give the exact answer to
the community members' question on the forum due to NDA, etc.
What does your normal workingday look like?
Getting up at 5 am, 3 hours by train to Den Haag, work work work, 3 hours in train back
home, rinse and repeat. ^^
How are you going to prepare yourself for the day TCoS gets released?
Pre-order plate armour hihihi :P
Seriously though Community Management team seriously prepares for that day, it is one of
the things that we do at work, besides the usual forum duties.
What are your expectations for the future?
I hope that TCOS will have the best community of all MMOs out there. :P
What is your favorite gamefeature in TCoS?
Oh there are quite a lot of favourite game features. As exceptionally favourite I probably would mention the game world graphics and the feel of the world. Over last week I have seen quite some of the game material which was not revealed to the players yet and graphics impressed me a lot.
As for game play, my personal most favourite at the moment is class skill list. :D
Show your colours! Which house is it going be?
I haven't decided yet. :D Besides that, I must admit, I am alt-o-holic, so picking the
main character might take a while.
Do you cherish resentment against hoppies?
I am a fan of the bigger prey. :D
Which game introduced you to the world of gaming and which one left the
strongest impression?
Oh, my very very first game was Prince of Persia, somewhere in the gloom of 1990-ties I think, we played it on half-self made Lithuanian PC Santaka. Then there were DOS games, can't even remember them all now, which later got replaced by Starcraft and Doom. The strongest im- pression... that with no doubt would be Dawn of Myth, browser based MMO, with extensive politics, epic battles and dedication I haven't seen anywhere else.
Any favorite games except TCoS?
That probably would be Dawn of Myth, Starcraft, Diablo.
In your from now on sorely limited freetime - what are your favorite activities?
Sleep! :D
What is your favorite sort of cookies?
Actually I do not like cookies, except maybe some home made ones. Fruits and
berries, however, are different story... cherries... mmmmh :D
Anything else you`d like to tell the community?
Behave, hehe! :P
Thanks for that lovely interview! :)
You`re welcome :)
