I’m going to start this blog with a small celebration. As most of you know I started at Spellborn as a graduation student a long time ago. And although I had outgrown my intern position a long time ago, I was technically still a student. Until this Friday. Because this Friday, the 21 of April at exactly 16.56PM, I graduated. I graduated with a big fat 8+ on a scale of 1 to 10. I now am officially smart! (insert applause.. oh I so do like a bit of drama). The only small party crasher was a fever. I was doing my presentation at school with a 38 degrees Celcius, a sore throat and a headache. I swallowed vitamins and painkillers for 2 days just to make it to my presentation. I had been waiting for this moment for so long, that I decided that nothing would stop me from finally finishing it. But I made it and here I am: 22 years old, graduated with a college degree and a great job at SIL. What else could I be asking for?
This week I’m going to introduce something “special”. I’m going to tell you about something that’s got a reputation of it’s own. I’ll tell you about ‘shitlist.txt’. The Shitlist. One of most infamous lists of all lists within the Environment Team (well… every team has got one). It’s the list nobody wants to know about, and nobody wants to do what’s in it. It’s the list that contains all the stuff that needs fixing or that needs to get done. And guess who’s going to do it… Yes, me (insert applause). In shitlist.txt you can find all kinds of nasty jobs. Holes in models, textures that stretch (or, in some cases there are no textures applied at all), sizes that are wrong and scales that are off, stuff that’s outdated etc etc. Terrible stuff that never gets done. Until now (insert applause again). And to be honest I don’t mind doing it because although it’s not the most challenging job, the stuff needs to get done sooner or later and it will save so much frustration and trouble later on.
I just got home from work and took a nice meal and relaxed for a moment, then to sit down and write my blog for this week. The TV’s on, but I’m not really watching. I’m searching the internet while I’m writing. And I’m looking for something special I discovered last night. Last night I went to the cinema to check out ‘V for Vendetta’. And I loved it. It is one of the best movies I’ve seen in years. It’s been about a day now and I’m still thinking about the movie. Well of course Natalie Portman has something to do with it, but the rest of the movie was amazing too. I think I’m going to watch another episode of my Family Guy dvd set that came in last week and then hit the bed. Got a long day of bug fixing ahead tomorrow.
