How to deal with employees…
For some time now I’ve been promoted to Lead Environment. So here I am all day busy with meetings and the planning and some more meetings and then some more planning. And once in a while I do some actual production too. ;) I already told you about the Guild Halls I was working on and that I would keep you up to date a bit with the process. And this week…I’m not going to show you anything (big “aaaaahhh” from all you readers).
No, this week I’m going to tell you something about How-To-Keep-Your-Employees-Happy. Or better: How-Employees-Keep-Me-Happy. And of course, most of the time they do. Everybody is doing amazing stuff around here and every time I can get excited all over again about the Spellborn universe. Occasionally however, my fellow coworkers don’t finish things in time or make a mistake (I understand if you loyal fans find it hard to believe that we make mistakes ;) ). Or course we always argue with a good sense of humor about who’s fault it was. A perfect example of this is described in Bart ‘Pestibugs’ Wiltenburg log. Read here for his version of the story. My version is that I showed it to him twice; and the second time I payed extra attention to it because it went wrong the first time. Obviously, it wasn’t my mistake. (and none of you dare to say otherwise… this ninja training DVD I have is really good!)
Of course, with overdue deadlines also great excuses come along. Stuff like ‘the bridge was open’ or ‘my dog ate it’ always work. But sometimes you get more creative reasons. Pestibug is the winner when it comes to excuse-creativity. One day he had to report in here at the office, but right before he should have arrived he send me this message:
[15:36] Pesti : mmm luv.. [15:36] Pesti : can I come in tomorrow instead of today? [15:38] Naj-Treb: why? You got to go somewhere? [15:38] Pesti : welll nooo... [15:38] Pesti : I errm... I’ve got laundy in the washingmachine... and with the dryer it takes up to 3 hours! lol [15:38] Pesti : it’s busy for quite some time now but even then I’ll still be in very late [15:39] Naj-Treb: lol… and you can’t keep it in the dryer for half an hour extra? [15:39] Pesti : AND THEN HAVE IT ALL CRACKELD?! YEAH RIGHT! [15:40] Pesti : after the drying it has to go out immediatly [15:40] Pesti : and... uhm... from time to time the washingmachine starts to walk lol [15:41] Pesti : yeeess... doing laundry is no sinecure!
And for all those who don’t know what sinecure is: ~ A position or office that requires little or no work but provides a salary. Ah, I can take it from him. Bart is “Triple B’ which stands for Big Buddy Bart.
That’s it for this week; next week some Guild Halls for you!
Naj-Treb over and out!
